Enabling Accessibility Fund
As part of a $45-million, three-year commitment to expand opportunities for people with disabilities, the Enabling Accessibility Fund supports community-based projects across Canada that improve accessibility, reduce barriers, and enable Canadians, regardless of physical ability, to participate in and contribute to their community and the economy. Approved projects will have strong ties to and support from their communities.
There are two kinds of funding under the Enabling Accessibility Fund: Small Projects Enabling Accessibility and Major Projects Enabling Accessibility.
Call for Proposals
The Call is now closed. We are not accepting applications at this time.
Small Projects Enabling Accessibility:
Provides grants of up to $50,000
for projects to renovate buildings, modify vehicles, and/or make information and communication more accessible.

Major Projects Enabling Accessibility:
Provides contribution funding of $1 million
to $15 million
for participatory abilities centres, subject to an agreement with Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

Approved projects
The projects included in this list were approved as part of the 2008 call for proposals. Applications for small projects submitted to the call for proposals that closed May 8, 2009 are currently undergoing the review process.
We expect final decisions to be made in fall 2009.
