Active Employment Measures

Active Employment Measures aim to:

  • help Canadians gain the tools, experience and skills needed to find and keep jobs;
  • ease access to work opportunities;
  • improve job skills; and
  • facilitate how Canadians and employers work together.

Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) designs, develops, monitors, tests and helps to oversee Active Employment Measures in partnership with provinces and territories. HRSDC ensures that these employment measures are adapted to the Canadian labour market and assists vulnerable groups with job transitions.

Labour Market Development Agreements were concluded with provinces and territories:

  • to help unemployed Canadians quickly find work; and
  • to develop a skilled labour force that meets current and emerging needs of employers.
