Universal Child Care Plan

Whether you have a newborn, or a four year old, or a child up to age 6, you want what is best for your child, especially when it comes to child care. The Government of Canada recognizes that each family has its own circumstances and needs, and parents must be able to choose the child care that is best for their children.

In this section, discover more about how the Government of Canada’s Universal Child Care Plan gives today’s parents a helping hand, by providing them with resources to help balance work and family as they see fit.

The Universal Child Care Plan contains two components:

  1. The Universal Child Care Benefit - providing direct financial assistance to parents.
  2. Child Care Spaces – providing funding to provinces and territories as well as an investment tax credit which businesses use to create new child care spaces.
