As a federally regulated employee, you are entitled to a minimum of two weeks of vacation annually after you have completed "one year of employment" with the same employer. After six consecutive years of employment with the same employer, you get three weeks of vacation annually.
You will continue to be paid during your annual leave: learn how your vacation pay is calculated.
The timing of your vacation is either agreed to by the employer and the employee, or the employer decides independently. If the employer chooses the vacation period, you must be given at least two weeks’ notice before your annual leave is scheduled to begin.
In every case, your annual leave cannot begin later than 10 months after you complete the qualifying year of employment.
You can postpone or waive your right to annual leave for a specified year of employment through a written agreement with your employer.
