Maternity and Parental Leave

Many Canadians take time off to care for and nurture newborn babies or newly adopted children. In addition to the maternity and parental benefits provided under Employment Insurance, federally regulated employees can also take advantage of the maternity and parental leave programs available to them through their place of work.

For more detailed information, see Pamphlet #5 – Maternity-related Reassignment and Leave, Maternity Leave and Parental Leave, as well as Pamphlet 5, Pregnant and Nursing Employees in the Occupational Health and Safety series and Division VII of Part III of the Canada Labour Code.
