You are not paid for holidays that occur during the first 30 days after the date you are hired.
If you work full-time hours, you must also be entitled to wages for at least 15 days during the 30 days preceding the holiday to qualify for holiday pay. If you are on a modified work schedule, you must establish eligibility according to the number of days specified in your schedule.
If you work part time, you will receive prorated holiday pay even if you are unable to establish entitlement to wages for those 15 days of the 30 days before the holiday: you will receive 1/20th of the wages you earned during those 30 days.
If you work in continuous operations, you are not entitled to holiday pay if you do not report for work on the holiday when requested to do so, or if you make yourself unavailable for work on that holiday, for example, by removing yourself from the shift schedule.
See Pamphlet #4A – General Holidays – Continuous Operations for full details.
