Treasury Board Standards for Fire Protection

On April 1, 2010, the new Treasury Board Fire Protection Standard will come into effect, replacing the Treasury Board Policy on Fire Protection, Investigation and Reporting (Chapter 2-5).

Note that the Treasury Board Standard for Fire Safety Planning and Fire Emergency Organization (Chapter 3-1) is under review but will remain in effect until further notice.

Chapters 3-2, 3-4, 3-5 and 3-6 are currently being rewritten as Federal Fire Commissioner Requirements pursuant to the Fire Protection Standard. These revised requirements are intended to provide best practice guidance for the federal departments and agencies subject to the new Standard.

The Labour Web site will be updated as the revisions are finalized. In the interim, please continue to refer to the existing federal fire protection policies and standards and other documents, as well as Chapters 3-1, 3-2, 3-4, 3-5 and 3-6.
