First Aid Organizations

On December 19, 2012 changes to Regulations were published in the Canada Gazette that

  • removed the requirement for Minister of Labour approval of first aid programs, and
  • revised the definition of an “approved organization” to mean any organization approved at the provincial or territorial level to deliver first aid.

Employers must now ensure that first aid training is given by a qualified person who holds valid certification from an “approved organization” in any province or territory.
