Your Protection

The Labour Program has prepared a series of publications for workers who want to prevent accidents. These short, user-friendly documents provide guidelines about how to protect some of the most vulnerable parts of your body. This is vital information, considering that your most important work tool is you!

  • Our Hands at Work! On average each year, accidents cause 500,000 hand injuries in Canada.
  • Protect Your Back! Stay in shape and adopt proper lifting techniques.
  • Protect Your Ears! Take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and avoid hearing loss.
  • Protect Your Eyes! Statistics tell us that most eye injuries could be prevented by the appropriate use of protective eyewear and shields.
  • Protect Your Feet! One in 10 accidents is a foot injury - choose the right shoes to protect your feet.
  • Protect Your Head! Ward off head injuries by wearing the right kind of hard hat.
  • Protect Your Lungs! It is difficult to know whether there are any dangerous substances in the air. Learn how to manage the risks and wear the right protective devices.
  • Protect Your Skin! Irritants, contaminants, exposure to the elements - learn how to protect your skin depending on the kind of the work you do.

In addition, the Labour Program has a number of brochures on health and safety related issues such as:
