This project will develop a new framework for urban planning and public investment by examining, documenting and comparing methods, ideas, designs and programs that unite people across jurisdictional boundaries. Practical solutions for the next generation of urban policymakers will be developed using four important Canadian and European cities: Quebec City, Vancouver, Barcelona and Dublin as the setting for MegaRegion studies. A Specialization or Certificate in Canadian-European urban studies known as the International Track will be created.

The project will provide transatlantic mobility opportunities for Canadian students, including a practical component dealing with the multi-faceted issues associated with the redevelopment of inner city industrial brownfields. Students will undertake comparative studies of brownfield remediation strategies in order to develop field methodologies and original research on brownfield management, thereby gaining international perspectives in this area of study.

The goal of the program is to establish sustainable partnerships between Canadian and European higher-education institutions in the field of information management that will facilitate the acquisition of skills required to meet the challenges of information management in the context of the global knowledge-based economy. Students will have the opportunity to study abroad at participating institutions and/or intern with an organization in the Information Technology and/or Information Management sector. This will allow the students to develop practical and academic knowledge related to their particular field of expertise, within an international context.

This project will formally initiate student and faculty exchange across several Canadian and European institutions in the area of interactive surface computing systems. This important technology field includes multi-touch smartphones and digital wall and tabletop systems which provide means for accessing and sharing digital information and media. Students will benefit by gaining enhanced knowledge and understanding of computer technology.

Partner institutions will collaborate in establishing a transatlantic network designed to foster mobility, international communication and collaborative learning.

This project will unite students and faculty from Canada and the EU in creating and participating in an international network committed to regional economic development in diverse transnational locations. This partnership will increase awareness of the important subject of wood based bio energy as a renewable energy solution as well as the positive impact of sustainable development. The project utilizes a multidisciplinary approach including technical aspects of wood based bio energy with a particular focus on the shared knowledge among the partners and the promotion of bio energy as a standard of development. The partner institutions will foster improved, better integration of bio energy practices by involving companies active in the field and preparing their future employees with the latest best practice techniques.

This project will support student exchanges in the area of natural resource, forest and environmental management. The central activity is delivery of 2-year course-based Master’s programs leading to dual degrees in natural resources and environmental management. Students will be educated in modern sustainable management enhanced by attention to cultural and situational differences. They will acquire global and multi-cultural awareness about economic and environmental issues inherent in sustainable natural resource and environmental management, while earning full credit recognition towards a dual, transatlantic Masters Degree.
