Funding and application process
Funding under the Sector Council Program is contingent upon strong performance and the continued achievement of results. All sector councils are results-based and are subject to rigorous assessment processes.
Eligibility
In order to be considered for project funding support under the Sector Council Program, potential partners must meet the following criteria:
- They must be an organization that addresses human resources and/or skills development issues on a national sectoral basis; and
- The project being proposed must be national in scope and must address national labour market issues facing an economic sector, or, in some cases, across sectors.
In reviewing incoming requests for funding, the Sector Council Program also takes into consideration:
- whether another organization is currently working on a similar project;
- whether another organization would be better suited to conduct this activity or participate or partner in the activity;
- whether there is opposition within the sector to this type of project or organizational involvement;
- similar proposals already being considered;
- the importance of the issue being addressed;
- the potential or feasibility for the project to adequately address issues; and
- the economic importance or size of the sector in the overall labour market.
Please note: The Sector Council Program does not provide funding to individuals or individual companies.
